Born on 8th September 1887 at Pattamadai, South India. Later a Doctor in Malaya for 10 years. Renounced the world in 1923. Entered the holy order of Sannyasa in 1924. After twelve years of intense austerities Founded the Divine Life Society in 1936.

I have added this post as a tribute to my grandfather who regarded swami sivananda as a friend and guru. My father also liked his writings and philosophy.

The Divine Life Society has branches and members all over the world, belonging to all religions and nationalities.

Letters From A Father To His Daughter – THESE LETTERS were written to my daughter Indira in the summer of 1928 when she was in the Himalayas at Mussoorie and I was in the plains below. They were personal letters addressed to a little girl, ten years of age.

But friends, whose advice I value, have seen some virtue in them, and have suggested that I might place them before a wider audience. I do not know if other boys and girls will appreciate them.
